United Way of Mercer County champions quality programs for children and families in our region. Leveraging resources and advocating for opportunities, United Way is a catalyst for innovative learning and creative programs that educate and inspire children and youth. As part of our mission, United Way of Mercer County is collaborating with our partners to offer Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a dynamic book ownership program for young children from birth to 5.

The Imagination Library inspires early learning through book ownership for young children from birth to age 5 in Mercer County. United Way of Mercer County is the local champion working with sponsors and donors to secure funds that bring this wonderful opportunity to children in our community. The funds raised are used to partner with the Imagination Library which mails a book to every enrolled child once a month until their 5th birthday at no cost to the family. The demand for this program in Mercer County has been exceptional with over 1000 children having received books. All funds raised from PA-OH Gives go directly to monthly books for children; there are no administrative costs. The costs paid directly to Imagination Library are $2.20 per child per month towards books and mailing, for a yearly total of $26.40 per child.
Parents have been overwhelmingly enthusiastic about the benefits of this program with their children becoming interested in reading. Our schools embrace the program as it prepares their future students to succeed. Please help bring a love of reading to a child in Mercer County.

The Imagination Library brings the joy of reading to young children and families. Every donation through PA OH Gives enables us to increase the number of children who will receive books. Sending books to a child is a gift that allows them to dream and explore from their own home. Through PA-OH Gives, The Imagination Library is able to obtain the vital community support that will enable children in our county to receive a monthly book. Your gift will directly bring books to our youngest children in Mercer County.
